Peak District - things to do close to the cottage

The location is central within the Peak District National Park, with all it has to offer. There are spectacular walks - right from your door step. You can do the Monsal Trail and Limestone way on foot from the cottage plus most of the main Peak District attractions are within a 20 minute drive. 

Walking – Tideswell provides a great base to walk from – we have attached a short selection of walks on your doorstep.

Attractions - There is no shortage of popular attractions and places to choose from. Here are some local attractions (within approx. 20 minute drive):

◦Chatsworth House – home of the Duke of Devonshire

◦Matlock Bath – Gullivers Kingdom, Heights of Abraham

◦Caves – the area of Castleton takes you to the famous Peak District caverns/mines – Speedwell, Blue John, Peak.  Our personal favourite is Treak Cliff (self guided tours during pandemic mean you have cave to self) and Speedwell (cave from a boat)

◦Museums – Eyam village has a fascinating plague museum, there is a good size museum and art gallery at Buxton

Shopping – Buxton / Bakewell have a good mix of independent and high street shops.Tideswell also has a good selection of local shops
